Über Bitcoin Cash

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) was launched in August 2017, as a result of the Hard Fork of Bitcoin. It has since become the most successful offshoot of Bitcoin. A Hard Fork is a community-activated update to the Blockchain protocol or code. In the case of Bitcoin Cash, the Hard Fork was designed to help scale the underlying technology of Bitcoin, resulting in a less decentralized cryptocurrency with a higher transaction speed. Owners of bitcoin before the Hard Fork received the equivalent amount in Bitcoin Cash after the update.

Bitcoin Cash increased the size of a block of transactions from Bitcoin’s 1MB to 8MB. This meant faster transaction processing times and a wider network that could accommodate more transactions. These features have paved the way for BCH to fulfill Bitcoin’s original promise as "Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash" across the globe with low fees and reliable confirmations. Ultimately, its goal is to compete favorably with industry giants, like Visa and PayPal, in terms of how much transactions it can process.

On Nov 16th, 2018, Bitcoin Cash was hard forked, which split it into Bitcoin ABC (Adjustable Blocksize Cap) and Bitcoin SV (Satoshi’s Vision). This split was based on conflicting ideologies and technical differences on the future of Bitcoin Cash. Like any other cryptocurrency, you can buy and sell Bitcoin Cash. Since its inception, the price has seen its share of ups and downs.
